The Markets
Stocks closed mixed as portfolio managers conduct their final trades to rebalance their portfolios ahead of the end of the quarter. The S&P 500 Index shed just less than three-tenths of one percent, remaining pinned to levels around the 50-day moving average. Previous long-term trend channel support that was broken at the start of last week is in a position of resistance. The rising 100-day moving average at 4340 continues to support the bullish trend in the market.Â
Today, in our Market Outlook to subscribers, we discuss the following:
- The jump in the energy sector from long-term support at the 200-day moving average and how to play the sector from a seasonal standpoint
- Notable changes in this week’s chart books: Find out which segments of the market have been upgraded to Accumulate this week
- US Durable Goods Orders: What is driving activity and the industry that is showing an appealing setup now
