The Markets
Stocks closed higher on Thursday as the ebb and flow between growth and value stocks continues. The S&P 500 Index closed with a gain of just over half of one percent after finding support at the 50-day moving average at the low of the session. A MACD sell signal was triggered in the Wednesday session as the churn in the market takes some heat out of the intermediate-term trend. Momentum indicators continue to negatively diverge from price, an indication of waning buying demand.
Today, in our Market Outlook to subscribers, we discuss the following:
- Hourly look at the large-cap index and the limits of the short-term trend
- Our buy targets for the investments on our shopping list
- Weekly jobless claims and what the trends are saying
- The change in natural gas inventories and the prospect for the seasonal trade in the commodity
