Today’s Technical Analysis for May 21, 2010
Of the 1660 stocks analyzed on Friday, 1317 advanced, 322, and the remaining 21 skipped out early for a long weekend. Stocks averaged gains of 1.49% on volumes just 1% less than the day previous. Returns were positive amongst the capitalizations for averages of 1.81%, 1.53% and 1.18% for Large-caps, Mid-caps and Small-caps, respectively. Stocks are in a gloomy position at present with only 13% above their 50-day moving average and 60% above their 200-day. At the peak in April, these levels were equivalent at 90% a piece. It will become increasingly telling of the market direction where these levels trend from here.
